Born into music,
devoted to mastering it.

Some artists are born into music; others dedicate their lives to mastering it. Vipul Nagnesia embodies both.

With a musical journey spanning more than three decades, Vipul has become one of the most recognised and respected Gujarati vocalists in Kenya and East Africa, captivating audiences with his soulful voice, electrifying stage presence, and remarkable versatility across devotional, folk, classical, and contemporary music.

Born into a family where music was both a tradition and a way of life, his journey began at just five years old, when he first picked up the tabla. Trained under a distinguished Indian tabla maestro known for accompanying leading Santvani and Bhajan artists, he developed an early, deep sense of rhythm and timing.

At sixteen he stepped into the spotlight as a vocalist, guided first by his parents and later by formal training in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music under the esteemed Shri Jishnu Brata Sircar of Kolkata, India. That classical grounding in ragas, paltas, alankars, voice culture and breath control gave him the foundation to blend technical precision with heartfelt devotional expression.

The Dual Identity

Artist by night.
Radiologist by day.

Music and medicine may seem like unlikely companions, but for Vipul Nagnesia they share the same foundation: discipline, precision, and dedication to excellence.

By day he serves as a Consultant Radiologist. By night, especially through Navratri season, he takes the stage as one of East Africa’s leading Garba and devotional vocalists. Rather than compromising either pursuit, he brings the rigour of one into the artistry of the other, proving that a life of true excellence does not require choosing just one calling.

The stage

Navratri Mahotsavs, bhajan sandhyas, mehfils and cultural festivals across East Africa and beyond.

The practice

A working Consultant Radiologist, bringing the same precision and patience to diagnosis as to a raga.

Keeping a tradition
alive, and moving.

To preserve, celebrate and carry forward the timeless traditions of Gujarati and Indian devotional music, while sharing it with new audiences and generations across the world.

01

Keep the authenticity of traditional Garba, Bhajan and Santvani alive, even while performing on contemporary and international stages.

02

Use music as a bridge, connecting communities, generations and cultures through shared devotion and celebration.

03

Mentor and inspire the next generation of vocalists and musicians, continuing the guru shishya tradition he himself was raised in.

04

Bring the discipline and precision of a medical career into the art of music, and the reverse, proving that passion and profession can thrive side by side.

05

Keep evolving artistically, blending classical training with Ghazals, Sufi, Qawwali and Bollywood, so the music stays rooted yet relevant.
